In 1982, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II signed the Proclamation of the Constitution Act, 1982 at Parliament Hill. Tens of thousands of Canadians were in attendance to witness history in the making. This day marked the moment when Canada became a fully independent country and acquired the right to amend its own Constitution.
